    Easter Bonanza Maze Event Review

    Hi All,

Thought it might be good for us to give staff feedback on this event since the turn out seemed to have a good amount of players involved.

    My review:

What was most enjoyable was seeing players put in a situation where they must work with one another. After going into the instanced space in the maze, players were put in a room, at random, set to three people max. This obviously had its pros and cons. I happened to get lucky as I was matched randomly with players who teamed up and were willing to help each other. We did figure out the maze together, but, we were a couple seconds too late after passing the fifth gate.

Initially, players were all put in the maze together in one instance, and then, we were instructed to 'refresh' to enter the instanced space. I believe this created some confusion until players understood to refresh. There was also the pressure of the time limit, and for those who did not know to refresh, I can see this impacting their time spent properly doing the maze. Also, because players did not know about the player count limit for the instanced rooms in advance, I can see some players being frustrated that they couldn't play through the maze with all their friends/teams who had collected clues together.

All in all, this was a great start in that we are seeing staff encourage players to not just do tasks in a 'mission' inside an event space, but interact with other players by moving around both in different spaces and in an event space to meet new people. This encouraged players to talk to new people, and communicate, in a way that we don't see very often outside of events. I hope to see more events in the future that create the same, if not more, interactions between players. In the event suggestions thread, I had suggested staff make an event that encouraged players to move around to different spaces, it is very likely staff truly does read and consider suggestions made for events. Please consider leaving new ideas for events in that thread as there are not many there, and I think the events really help the game remain alive.

Looking forward to seeing other players leave their review of the event.

It was definitely a one of a kind experience for me. I had a lot of fun, even though I didn't team up with anyone because it felt kind of awkward to approach just anyone (this one's on me lol). I had the impression it was supposed to be a limit of 1 player per instance, so I don't know if I misunderstood that or there was a glitch allowing multiple players in some instances? Perhaps the staff could've made this part a bit more clear.
The vault space was locked after the first 30 players arrived, so the rest of us were kind of left in the dark. There's still no official announcement/forum post on the aftermath and maybe the winners, which is something I was kind of expecting (maybe it's too early?). We still have no information as to whether our participation counts and if we can redeem the participation prize.
All in all, the event itself was really fun and I'm quite excited for the next one. I really liked the choice of the day as well, as I know it's hard to cater to everyone's timezone, but by having it on a weekend gives many players a chance to participate even if it means staying up late or waking up early.

      Hello and Happy Easter,

Thank you for your thoughtful reviews so far, we really do appreciate feedback and are always looking at ways we can improve future events. We are pleased to hear that you both enjoyed the event!

We intended for the maze to be one instance per person, however, the sudden rush of players caused an issue whereby several loaded into the same instance at once. We are looking at ways to prevent this happening in the future. Reflecting on this, I also agree we should have made the solo nature of the maze clearer, which is something we'll be sure to highlight for future events.

I'll be posting on the forums in the next few hours with a list of the 30 winners and a reminder about participation rewards. In the meantime I can confirm that anyone who registered for the event, by attending the registration space, will receive a participation reward of 1,000 Gold in the next 7 days.

Thanks again for your reviews, we'll be keeping an eye on this thread for any further feedback that can inform our future events!

Yea, I also had the issue with being in a crowd of people trying to get through. At the end with the rocks, I believe mine was broken because the only rock that didn't teleport me back to the start did nothing at all - I feel like I would've got into the vault if it wasn't for that. I was there for ages trying out all of the rocks and by the time I went through them all, the vault was full anyway.

It was fun though and thanks for putting it on. I made a few new friends through this event who are all lovely.
