Hi Everyone,
First I wanted to give thanks to the SV team for their hard work and to the community for their support of the game. Like most of you, I grew up playing SmallWorlds and this brings back so many memories, it really means a lot to me personally and I'm sure to all of you, to experience this again. I'm excited to dive back in and grind missions, get collectibles, decorate my space, etc. But there's one big issue I'm worried about, how long will this last? Obviously games can fail in the long-term, and sadly that's expected, but I'm worried about this game within the next couple of years. I'll list my concerns/questions below. I hope the SV team can jump in on this, but if you guys have answers or anything to add, please do!
1. What do the original SmallWorlds developers think about this? Could this lead into legal issues in the future, potentially shutting SV down? I read that potentially OutSmart Games could be okay with this? The ToS mentions this game isn't affiliated or endorsed by OutSmart games, which makes sense, but I was curious if OutSmart Games is at least not against it.
2. While I hope the game continues to gain more attraction (and so far it is), what if it doesn't reach the player base level that the SV team intends? I believe one of the main issues SW shut down was mainly due to little to no profit, and that was with a much higher player base. Has the costs to host a virtual world gone down?
Again, if anyone has any more concerns to add, please do so. I really hope this game strives for years to come.
Thank you!
