Worried about the longevity of SV

    Hi Everyone,

First I wanted to give thanks to the SV team for their hard work and to the community for their support of the game. Like most of you, I grew up playing SmallWorlds and this brings back so many memories, it really means a lot to me personally and I'm sure to all of you, to experience this again. I'm excited to dive back in and grind missions, get collectibles, decorate my space, etc. But there's one big issue I'm worried about, how long will this last? Obviously games can fail in the long-term, and sadly that's expected, but I'm worried about this game within the next couple of years. I'll list my concerns/questions below. I hope the SV team can jump in on this, but if you guys have answers or anything to add, please do!

    1. What do the original SmallWorlds developers think about this? Could this lead into legal issues in the future, potentially shutting SV down? I read that potentially OutSmart Games could be okay with this? The ToS mentions this game isn't affiliated or endorsed by OutSmart games, which makes sense, but I was curious if OutSmart Games is at least not against it.

    2. While I hope the game continues to gain more attraction (and so far it is), what if it doesn't reach the player base level that the SV team intends? I believe one of the main issues SW shut down was mainly due to little to no profit, and that was with a much higher player base. Has the costs to host a virtual world gone down?

Again, if anyone has any more concerns to add, please do so. I really hope this game strives for years to come.

    Thank you!

I remember reading that this is a fan remake of the game. The original developers were contacted, but I don't know what came of that. I do believe MiniMania (another remake but from Brazil) started some legal trouble with SmallVerse. Maybe someone else can add more details of that event.

But I do have concerns about longevity for the game as well. The SV team and other players have social media accounts trying to promote the game.

Ageed. Even the old SW Instagram account has thousands of followers. I was looking at their last post, wishing comments weren't limited to notify everyone to come to SV! Running meta ads would help (ig, fb, etc).

I believe the game has a good future and that longevity is not much a concern.

I completely agree! I only found out about this last night when I was reminiscing with family about the game. Some of my missions were posted on youtube by other users playing them and I went on to try to find them and that's how I found out about SV. I made so many detailed missions back then, it was painful when they were all lost. I really hope word gets out. The power of social media especially nowadays should help that but I really hope they push hard to get it out there!! I've already posted in a couple SW groups to help spread the word and I will continue to do so.

Not sure how long it'll last with having to pay so much for monthly wearbles including the snowfox, not happy about it.

I wouldn't worry, SV have a good team and they will try and grow the game, if you look at the active player base its gradually going up when I first started playing at it's peak I was seeing 120-135 people online then it went too about 140-160 then 160-180 now its 180-240 . Also they listen too community feedback this will keep players playing and spending.

nobody is forcing you too buy this package, it was the most rare item on sw so they want it too be valuable hence the price. There is other packages you can buy for 10-40$ so buy that instead.
