Give New Missions Their Moment of Fame..... please

The Mission Panel needs a refresh. (A Better Way to Organize the Panel)

Why doesn't the mission panel start with the most recent missions like it used to be in SW? They could keep the official missions on the first page, but at least the new missions would get their moment of fame.

Since the game started, the same missions have been on the first pages, and they have thousands of plays... because who is going to go all the way to page 500 to look for a mission if they find one on page 2?

I was gonna say, I will personally switch to the "Recents" tab, but not everyone is going to put in that effort. I also think it would be great to have a "Featured" tab with a rotating selection of 10-20 missions that get to be highlighted for a week or so.

      That sounds great.

And... the 'Recent' tab doesn't show the effort players put into decorating their spaces and choosing an image to represent their mission. It looks more like a sales catalog for empty spaces :P.

The only tab that shows the nice icons with the images of the spaces is the 'Approved' one....the default one.

I totally agree! I also sort by creation time, but I get that not everyone might.

I 100% agree that the default Approved Missions list should be arranged by most recently added first! It makes absolutely NO SENSE to organize the list the way they have. They need to reverse the order or start retiring the older missions ASAP

I do agree that the order should be fixed in some way, I have to disagree with retiring missions. You wouldn't remove a player's artwork just because it existed too long. Missions involve a lot of thought and effort and should be treasured just like a work of art.

I disagree that old missions should be retired. What's old? Honestly, if there is a mission that is not my cup of tea, I just pass it by. It does me no harm. I do agree, however, for a better way to sort and filter through new missions. I know some of the older missions had quite a lot of items and time invested into them. It wouldn't be inspiring to future mission makers if your creation only lasts for a while knowing all the money and space you put towards it was erased.

deff need to revamp the mission panel. Most recent should deff be up front..
I personally think they need to get rid of "top rated" and mission ratings entirely.

Would love to see a player "featured" missions, but one that is changed out frequently, like every 3 months.. but understand that would require more personal to manage. I would be willing LOL

I don't necessarily think that aged missions should be penalised, but realistically speaking, what is the end goal here? What if SV lasts for 10 years like SW? If we continue like this, we'll end up with thousands of pages of approved missions, most of which would be created by players who no longer actively play.

Remember, the mission approval process was put in place to encourage the creation of missions of an acceptable standard of quality and, importantly, to incentivise players to patronise those missions instead of the ones that were not sanctioned. Right now, the system seems to favour missions that have been around for a longer time because (a) they show up first so (b) they are played more often which causes them to (c) dominate the popular and top-rated categories too. Then of course because they are well-known, they are top-of mind for weekly loyalty replays. It's really tough for a new mission to break through that vicious cycle.

Re-ordering the menu would certainly help but I think in the long-term, SV has to find a way to manage the number of approved missions available so that it does not become cluttered or stale. Unlike merely creating a mission, having an approved mission is not a right, it's an earned privilege. I personally don't believe that privilege should last a lifetime. I think that the approval status of a mission should automatically expire (i.e. the mission would still exist and be playable but its status will revert to 'unapproved' status) if the mission creator, or alt. avatars on the account, does not log in and play at least x number of non-official approved missions within the last 30-60 days. This will ensure that there is reciprocity and that we don't end up with a bunch of ghosts getting all the plays while newer players beg for consideration.

At the end of the day, missions are pieces of content and the mission panel is like a social media feed. Yes, there will be some classics that are evergreen but for the most part, the fresh, new content should be front and centre for consumption to keep things interesting. If we never allow missions to expire then we will starve the new challengers who can't compete against the established. All content has a shelf life and missions should not be immune to that. Perhaps after 2 years of being approved, missions can be retired with honours. They will no longer be approved so not eligible for the loyalty challenge but they still give decent XP/token payout (125xp/500t). There's still some dignity in that while allowing them to make room for others to take their space. This will surely drive players towards the new and encourage more content creation.

If curating a "Featured" list is too much work for the SV Team, another solution they could try is rotating or randomizing the Approved Missions list. This would not only help new missions get more views, but would prevent missions in those middle pages from getting lost to time, too. They could still sticky the Official missions on the first page, but anything after that would appear in a different order every day or every time you open the panel. It could also be fun to have a "Play a Random Mission" button that transports you to any one of the approved missions. I would probably end up using that feature all the time if they implemented it haha! They could even include filters if you're looking for something with a particular xp pathway or length.

The fix is easy... switch from A-Z to Z-A, and everyone wins. It encourages creating new missions to stay relevant. Personally, I love finding a good mission and then diving into that creator's hub for more. But like people said, some of those top-page creators probably aren't active, yet they keep raking in plays, while the new mission makers in the pages 499th and 500th are stuck with under 25 plays... no unfair

I completely agree with rotating the mission panel and putting most recent mission first. This will allow more plays for newer missions and break the habit of repeating plays on missions only within the first few pages (players tend to want to cut out extra time looking through numerous pages and missions to play) so they will naturally gravitate to whatever is the shortest to play at the beginning of the panel. There could also be the option to randomly cycle and load the mission order to jumble it up a bit (if technically possible)

I do not agree with retiring approved missions. I can completely understand its reasoning, however, I think there would be a lot of us upset when a favorite mission can’t be found on the approved missions panel anymore. The same can be said for an inactive mission maker coming back into the game and seeing their hard work removed from the panel with no explanation (say they were absent if this became a thing) and then have to go on and resubmit it again.

Completely agree. I brought this up in Bugs & Issues a couple months ago. This needs to be fixed/updated/added.

COMPLETELY agree with this. I also put a similar suggestion into the Discord Suggestions a while ago so hopefully they will implement this soon!
