I think what they need is new fresh places like that, something new that would evoke more interest maybe people are tired of space jump or the majority of people who liked it have not returned here, yet anyway. Maybe they could do like several ideas and then do a vote to see what one is most wanted.
Remove the catalog

I do not agree with this. The shop catalog is instrumental. I feel it would be unreasonable to have to go to other spaces to buy items. As a mission maker, I agree with everyone here. But also just as a player decorating a space I would not be happy to have to leave my space every time I want to buy something.Comment

676c81d0a69abc71d2cdabd3 I know you are getting a lot of hate for this because people love the convenience of the catalog, especially when rushing through missions, but I actually completely agree with you. Funny fact: during the peak ascension of the original SmallWorlds, when thousands of new players were pouring in daily, the catalog didn't even exist. And guess what? The shops were never empty.
Back then, there was constant innovation in those official spaces. The creators actually invested time in changing the decor, redesigning the layouts, and repositioning items regularly. It made the world feel alive and gave players a truly immersive experience. That feeling of exploration and social interaction is exactly what drives long-term player retention.
Right now, we traded community and immersion for pure convenience. Taking a step back to bring life into the official spaces is a great idea. Huge +1 from me.

I see your point but I do not think it is that serious. It is weird I am reading this though. I was literally thinking just today "I am glad the shop tab is here. I have no idea where I could find this item". Small shops are doing fine.Comment

I understand your P.O.V but I have to disagree with this.
This would hinder the creative aspect of the game - which is the main focus of the game and would also lower space sales for SV as a whole.
Decorating spaces would become bothersome as you would have to go back and forth to buy items. You could counteract this buy buying items in bulk but not everybody has the funds for that and not everybody pre-plans their decor. I would also argue making decorated spaces and missions is a highlight of the game that people enjoy and brings the community together already.
Deleting the catalog would also be troublesome for new players who don't know everything about the game and could potentially lead to scams as not everybody will know the prices of items.
Yes, the game did not originally have the catalog but it has since brought out hundreds of new items that would need a lot of big, laggy spaces to put the items in. There is nothing more mundane than looking for a specific item in the game when your ultimate goal is to make an outfit or decorate a space.
I believe there are more cons to this than pros.

I started this thread to spark conversation about the game and it seems to have worked. Its so lovely to see how many people are passionate about the creative abilities SV gives us. I just wish more people spoke in suggestion threads like this one.
I completely agree with everything you have said, though as for sharing the links in the servers, i don't think there is really any other way to get through to people about how influential it is to have people responding to suggestion threads. Not enough people come on here to have a say or know about the forums to even get their say and its sad. Discord Suggestions are crap because you cant actually say what you are thinking and feeling.I understand your P.O.V but I have to disagree with this.

So, I actually liked the idea and then read the responses and slowly fell out of love with it. For the sake of keeping this convo going, maybe a counter-offer...?
What if the prices in-shop were slightly lower than the prices on the catalogue? The best way of doing this without disrupting the economy (i.e., the stuff currently for sale in private shops and profit margins resellers rely on for their own build-up) would probably be to slightly increase the prices on the catalogue and keeping prices in the shops the same as they currently are.
Idk, just a thought. Could be an interesting way of creating an incentive to visit different spaces and actually visit the official stores set up by SV staff, without taking away the catalogue from those who rely on it or prefer it. Obviously the price difference would have to be pretty minor, I'm thinking like 1,300 gold for high-top shoes on the catalogue vs. 1,250 gold in-shop (current price).
This would also encourage newer players with less experience in the game to visit the shops, where they're more likely to interact with others and make friends, whereas people with more money who may not mind the slightly higher price and already have established themselves in the community can just buy off the catalogue if they don't feel like switching to a different spaceComment

I agree that in-world stores need more traffic, but removing the catalogue is the wrong approach. The game needs to evolve, and the catalogue is a vital quality-of-life feature, much like online shopping in real life. Instead of forcing players into stores, I suggest incentivising them - such as offering discounts, in addition to the ability to try on items. I'm against removing the catalogue, but I appreciate this healthy discussion.Comment
