I think I remember there being an option to buy VIP with gold in the old days, so it's not a bad day - especially for players who may not want to make an online purchase but have been able to build up enough funds through offers.

yes there was most def an option! its what made me hooked to the game tbh because i could easily extend my vip

i agree with buying vip with gold it help alot for players who dont have debit or credit cards to purchase that amount but will the team lose money they go that route

i'd have to disagree on that, more gold routes will make the game more accessible to people who like you said, dont have debit or credit cards or just can't afford a package at that moment

Trying to get more people to play the game is one thing, but it's more beneficial for SV (in terms of longevity) if they can attract more people who are willing to spend real money on the game. Even if they somehow get a huge amount of people on the game, but the majority are not willing to spend money, it'll be a real problem for the game to continue running.

However, on another thread suggesting the same thing, Mya SmallVerse said this:

I think that is a fair compromise. It still allows players to get vip using gold, but it gives people more of an incentive to buy vip with real money because it unlocks other features (CL/CP), which stops people from taking advantage of the system. And I'm saying this as someone who never paid real money in the OG game because I benefited from buying vip from gold.
