Let Mission Makers play their own Approved Missions for XP ?

I love making missions but I also like to level up my character. I'd like to be able to play my own missions for xp but without the ability to get tokens, rate it or add a 'play' onto it to make it fair?
I'm not sure how it would work. Or maybe have the ability to get the mission permanently locked?

I'd love to hear others thoughts on this.

Not like they will ever approve of this, but absolutely not. Missions are made for others to enjoy, not for us to create for our own personal gain to farm xp off of. I’m going to leave it at that, I am thoroughly disgusted right now at the mere suggestion. That is all.

most likely wouldn't play my own missions.. for a couple reasons.. usually by the time i am done building them, i am sick of the space, especially the music LOL
but.. who knows .. a year down the line it might be interesting..
since for me, dont know about others... i view my missions differently then a player would.. so it would be fun or interesting to play it and bonus get rewarded something...

I see no harm in allowing something like this... What does it matter if its someones own mission or another players mission.. they still have to last a certain amount of time and other guidelines.

No need to be disgusted, it was just a suggestion. I don't see it as farming for xp, I see it as I really enjoyed what I created and want to play it but have no motivation to play it when I get nothing from it and would just be rather pointless. Saying that, there are also missions I've created that I don't enjoy as much and probably am less likely to play.

If they somehow locked the mission and made it as if it was just another regular mission, it would just be the same as everybody else's.

Also, if someone decided to make missions for their own benefit rather than others, that's also acceptable and would get more people to get into the mission making community - there's no shame in this, everybody has their own morals and that's not really for us to judge since at the end of the day, it's just a game and it's not hurting anyone.

I think this is a great idea, If It's an approved mission, it shouldn't matter if I play it or not. I spent all of that time making it, and half of my missions don't get played anymore, so I might as well play them myself.

Perhaps my moral compass is higher than others. I feel that this concept and what a mission is around for is different than what the original developers on SW planned for. A mission was something that allowed us to share our creativity with others while also adding additional content to the game for us to do. They also gave us an incentive for us to have something to work towards; leveled wearables.

I find it incredibly sad what has become of missions in time from the time SW was originally created to now and the attitude towards them. They have been little more than something to grind xp and tokens out of. Sure, some of us actually enjoy playing them, but for the majority, that is not the case. In the first couple years of SW, the attitude towards them was much different and more enjoyable, there wasn’t the complaints or lack of plays that there is today. Of course the approval system not putting everything in tiers had a lot to do with that, but simply put, it was a better time and place. And now we are here …….. (I do not say that in a positive way at all)

I create missions to share my stories with others and use it as a way to express myself. Creating missions is why I play this game and the ONLY reason. It makes no sense why I would want to create one solely for myself (and I care less of a mission reward). I do however, enjoy the story and will find myself going back over it again, but rather than playing it again, I can just go over the documents they came from or alternatively, I can play it on an alternate avatar. If I did create one to play, and if not for the sole enjoyment of others, I would really have no reason to create one at all. And if this is the attitude towards why missions exist and others don’t really enjoy mine to play, I might as well close down my missions to the public as well and call it a day. There is zero point in having them.

And yes, it further disgusts me that my fellow community would support this as well. It comes off to me as a hypocrisy by those that claim to enjoy them. This is corrupting their purpose to why they were created.

You say this is just a game, which it is, but again, creating missions FOR OTHERS TO ENJOY is the ONLY reason I have to play it. And yeah, sure, implementing this would allow me and others to enjoy my missions, but the thing is, my moral compass is much stronger than that and it would override, I just simply won’t play. And I would follow up to close my missions because I wouldn’t want to share them with those that lacked a moral compass and think that something like this is okay. I already lessened the time that I play, I really only log in to take care of responsibilities and the reason for that is because of how missions are viewed upon and ignored these days. This just takes the cake.

Why bother playing someone else’s mission when you can just play your own and get xp for it? 🙄😒 Simply put … they won’t. THAT is the HARM in this and missions will be worse than their current state. That’s reality.

              I also love the idea!

When I found SmallVerse a few months ago, I was shocked and pleased to find some of my own missions had been recreated. I'd never had the opportunity to play my own before and I can't begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed it! I'm sure its because I hadn't seen them in so long but still!

I cannot see anything immoral about accepting 250 xp and 1000 tokens oncea week for playing our own missions. It would take years of play to even break even on the cost we put into them! And that's not accounting for the time, love and heart involved.

The creators of SmallWorlds never personally came and explained to me what they intended missions to represent but SW is dead. SmallVerse lives and evolves!

I say YES a resounding YES!

                Here is your answer: https://web.archive.org/web/20180722...mission-payout

Specifically, this comment; it was in reference for the new approval system at the time but defines their position of a mission's purpose to be, I would HOPE that SV will at least share SW's code of ethics and help preserve what the mission's purpose was for at the very least:

The Mission System exists so that players can create engaging and well crafted player-made content for others to enjoy. We are proud of the fact that some of our players make missions that are better than ones we make and we see this as a massive point of difference about SmallWorlds. We advertise this as a key part of the SmallWorlds experience.

The Mission System's purpose is not to level up or gain XP. That is a by-product of Missions but not it's purpose.

I understand this game is based off of SWs but it is essentially a new game with new owners and a new team. Let's not forget that SWs died and for SV not to take the same route, changes will inevitably have to be made. I've made a suggestion which has had mostly positive feedback and I'm thankful for that but it doesn't mean it will get implemented Just like how you like to create missions, others like to collect and wear levelled wears which means missions are a stepping stone - the point I'm making is everyone enjoys this game for different reasons and I don't think my suggestion would stop the players who enjoy playing missions for the stories to be impacted by this.

I hope you try to enjoy other aspects such as art, socialising, decorating, reselling, etc. I know you make sculptures and they're great!

This suggestion earns a huge 'yes' from me. There are many aspects of Smallverse (and Smallworlds) gameplay that do not affect or matter to me, but to turn my nose up at their mere suggestions as one of the most repugnant and reprehensible ideas would make me look rather silly. If people want to play their own missions then that certainly does not affect me; people can play this game how they see fit according to the TOS, that is.
