What made Smallworlds so special to you?

I've been playing the game a lot less recently and I've found that lots of others seem to be on less and less also. Not sure if we're in a natural down tick due to the weather being warm so more people are outside (which is great!) But it got me to thinking about how much I used to love logging on and always being able to find someone to talk to, whether it was a new or old face. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many new faces here and I see many of the old ones online less and less. Wondering what was everyone else's favorite aspect of the game if you could only pick one thing that would always keep you coming back wanting for more?

On the original game, Smallworlds, what made it so special to me, was that was where I met my husband. It’s been going on 16 years together so Smallworlds will always hold a special place in my heart.

As for what was that one thing that keep me coming back on Smallworlds and now here on Smallverse, is the ability to create missions; it is something to do that I haven’t been able to find on any other game. I love having the ability to create interactive stories, to make them come alive and sharing them with others. They are the one true passion that I have in this game. Oh, and the husband is still around too.

Couldn't agree more! When SmallWorlds closed I felt like a piece of me was missing. I've never found another outlet for my creativity that fit so well with my talents. I AM mission maker. I may not be the best but it is who I am and I am so grateful to have SmallVerse in my life!

Oh, I had my hubby before either game started but I have had a lot of support from him through out my time. He once bought me a laptop just so I could stay in touch with the game while we went on vacation. It was when I released my most complex mission and I wanted to see how it was received. It was called, THE DOOR.

I remember seeing a Smallworlds ad back in the day that showed an Indiana Jones type character walking up to a treasure chest, and being a big Indy fan, I signed up. Then, I discovered missions.

At the time, I thought the staff made them all. I was wowed by the creativity. Then I learned that the missions were mostly player made, and it was a paradigm shift. I could write stories and make them interactive, or share some of my favorite stories the same way. I was obsessed. Meeting my favorite mission makers, like Willow here or Geno Lindley, was like meeting celebrities. It was amazing.

To this day, that's what Smallworlds is to me. The ability to make interactive stories was the one unique and irreplaceable feature of that game- and this one. Lots of games have collectible rares to buy, clothes to dress up in, spaces to decorate, chat capability, etc. But none of them have the functionality for this type of storytelling. The art and sculpting communities are first rate, as well. That is why Smallworlds will always be an era in my life to which I'm eager to return.

I really enjoyed the buy-and-sell market, especially with the gold retention system — basically the game's version of [REDACTED] 💀. It created a real challenge to become wealthy. Getting rich wasn’t impossible, but it required patience, strategy, and knowing when to spend or save. That made the economy feel rewarding because your progress actually meant something.

The adoption system was also honestly one of my favorite parts. When I got tired of buying and selling, I could switch things up, adopt a child, and just enjoy the roleplay side of the game. It gave players another way to have fun instead of only focusing on money and items.

I also enjoyed like the Bluebird attack. When the Trading Post got taken over, the whole game felt like it was in chaos. Everyone was panicking, but at the same time it was exciting because those moments created memories and brought players together.

Owning stores and working with other stores was another big part of what made the game enjoyable. Building businesses, trading, and interacting with other players made the world feel alive. The community back then could be toxic, but honestly, that chaos was also part of the fun. There was always something happening.

Nowadays, it feels like a lot of players just stockpile everything and keep to themselves. The game feels less social compared to before. Back then, there was competition, drama, trading, roleplay, and actual player interaction — that’s what made SmallVerse memorable.

also amt of [REDACTED] i got on kik was crazy back then
